Zachary Degnan
During his PhD, Zachary studied materials-induced loss in superconducting quantum circuits, focusing on tantalum-based superconducting resonators. His research combined circuit design and simulation with advanced materials characterisation techniques, including XPS, GIWAXS, neutron reflectometry, XRR, and AFM, to establish links between fabrication, materials properties, and device performance. He is now a researcher at the National Quantum Computing Testbed (NQCT), contributing to the development of a full quantum computing stack from hardware through to system integration.
